Coming Home…

And just like that- I’m home!! Thank you everyone for the love and kindness over the past 4 months. I haven’t been the best at writing these past couple weeks with traveling and wifi running extremely slow, the blog site hasn’t been working great. That being said- I have a lot to cover!! This is…

Happy Thanksgiving!

It feels a little weird knowing that this week, halfway across the world, most of my family is getting together to eat food and hang out, while I’m in Ghana where Thanksgiving has rarely even been heard of. It’s been a little while since I’ve posted because last week… MY PARENTS WERE HERE! How wonderful…

A bit late! :o

So amidst all of the political craziness, hopefully this will break up your news feed on Facebook a bit ūüôā Unfortunately, while this was one of the most exciting weeks, I had no¬†camera to capture pictures. So this post, while I have many stories to tell, will have limited pictures, I’m sorry! BUT! Tomorrow, my…

Kumasi!

Only 6 weeks left… crazy. And it’ll be a busy 6 weeks at that! 4 days till my birthday, and 11 days until my parents come. 19 days till classes end. Then traveling to Togo, Sao Tome, and sightseeing in Ghana. I’m oh so excited! This past weekend we went on the long-awaited trip to…

Week 10!

After the craziest week yet, this past weekend was full of relaxing and laughs with friends at Maranatha Beach Resort. What I’ve learned this week: Because I’ve been here for 2.5 months, Ghanaians think I’m fluent in Twi. ¬†This leads to my complete confusion after basic greetings with people in Twi. Ghanaians think my flyaways…

Want to give?

A lot of you have asked if you can send packages, and while I would absolutely love that and there are so many things the children here could use, it is way too expensive. But! If you have something you would like to send over for the children, my parents are coming in 3 weeks…

what a sunday.

This past week was great until Sunday morning between the hours of 12 and 4am. ¬†Unfortunately, when I woke up at 6, I discovered my phone was missing, so since it had been plugged into the charger, I followed the cord from the outlet to the end where i found it.. sticking out of a…

Two Months In. Two Months Left.

Wow. That’s really weird. We are pretty much at the¬†halfway point. Especially because today I discovered my last final is December 5th (when they end December 11th), so I may leave my stay in Ghana a few days early so that I can explore Brussels and Amsterdam for a few days, as an extended layover…

Happy October!

I miss fall. My favorite season, it’s hard to be away during sweater, scarf, and boot weather. Not to mention everything pumpkin. Halfway done with classes. Wow. That was pretty crazy to type. ¬†With only 6-7 weeks left of instruction in classes, we’re halfway done, before heading into a 4 week long finals period, where…

Week 6!

So a couple things I have learned this week: Ghanaians like to be clean. ¬†My little host sister is 2 and if there is a speck of dirt on her chair or even on her shoes, she makes a fuss. Ghanaians hate sweat… For as hot as it is here, you start sweating the second…

Week 5!

It’s crazy that I’ve already been here for 6 weeks… Crazy that it is 1/3 of the way over. ¬†In some ways, it feels as if it’s been a week, and in others, it feels like I’ve been here for a year. ¬†I have adored getting to know people in the community,¬†coming home to my…

Weekend Adventures

If I wasn’t in love with this country and it’s people already, then I most certainly am now! ¬†I¬†got back last night from a weekend trip with¬†5 friends to the Northern Region of Ghana- we flew into Tamale, and then got a ride 3 hours away to Mole National Park! It was an AWESOME weekend!…
